The Commerce Department has stated that retail sales have ramped up to 3.8% in January which is up than the predictions of 2.1%. Online shopping with 14.5% gain and furniture sales with 7.2% gain has contributed more to the retail sales on the other hand sporting goods sales fell 3% and gasoline sales decreased to 1.3%. On YOY basis retail sales have seen an overall 13% increase with this retail sale has pulled up by 33.4%.

In the U.S, Walmart's advertising business produced $2.1 billion in revenue in 2021. The number of advertisers using Walmart Connect has seen 136% growth in YOY and it is predicted that Walmart Connect would be one of the top-10 advertising platforms in the upcoming years. In Q4 U.S. sales were up by 5.6% and revenue would hit above the analysts predictions.

Amazon has extremely spent a lot to bring Amazon grocery to your doorstep at the lowest price possible. In 2017, it has spent $13.7 billion to obtain Whole Foods, the price is 10 times higher when compared to the other deals which Amazon had agreed. As per research firm Numerator, in the last 12 months, Amazon.com and Whole Foods accounted for 2.4% of the grocery market, while Walmart has earned 18%.
