AppsFlyer report revealed that, in 2022, total app installs increased by 10% YOY. Despite this growth, there is a slight slowdown due to the digital surge as we saw 35% YoY install growth in 2020. Spending on gaming apps was highest at $27 billion, followed by finance at $8.5 billion, casino real money apps at $5.2 billion and shopping at $3.4 billion.

As per new Advertiser Perceptions findings, 58% of marketers increased their spending on social media as a result of the macroeconomic environment in Q4. 49% of them are working with more platforms such as TikTok, Twitch and BeReal is another option. Brands reallocate budgets for general search (38%), connected TV (30%), mobile in-app (28%) and digital/streaming audio (24%).

As per recent research, Ad spending for the month of November reached $9.4 billion and it is the top-performing month for the year 2022, yet there is a slight 8% drop in spending YOY. Whereas pharma and travel experienced the best November on record since 2017.

A recent (ANA) study found that the marketing and advertising industry is initiating hiring women and minorities. Female representation is the highest at 68.3% compared to the previous at 67.1%. Blacks now represent 7.2% of US marketing employees, improving from 6.6% last year and 10.9% identified as Hispanic/Latino, up from 8.9% a year ago.

In the US, eMarketers predicts that over two-thirds of adults aged 18 to 34 spend more time watching Netflix than users will spend on either TikTok or YouTube through 2024. Netflix monthly users will top 172 million in 2023, compared with about 102 million for TikTok. Whereas it generates only $830 million in revenue versus $6.83 billion for TikTok.

Google came up with two new Chrome performance settings to save memory and battery power. If the laptop battery level reaches 20%, Chrome automatically goes into Energy Saver mode to prolong battery life and Memory Saver mode allows Chrome to use up to 30% less memory for a faster browsing experience.

As per NPD Group, sales of virtual reality headsets in the U.S dropped by 2% YOY to $1.1 billion. In 2022, worldwide shipments of VR headsets and AR devices reduced from 12% to 9.6 million. But in 2023, Apple’s potential entry into the VR market is one of the big developments to be noticed.
