Walmart U.S. Sales Grew to 9.3% in Q3

Digital retail media advertising has been ramping up in the US. As per eMarketer predictions, this spending would further rise 53.4% to $31.49 billion in 2021. On the other hand, US retail media growth would pull up by 38.3% of the total digital ad market. Whereas Amazon surpass retail media ad spending, as it accounts for 77.7% in this year.

As per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has been increased to a 6.2% annual rate in October. Walmart has seen growth in this quarter with the increase of CPI and holiday season. In the U.S sales rose to 9.3% to $96.6 billion YOY (Year Over Year) in Q3 and the domestic comp sales were up by 9.2% whereas U.S. e-commerce sales raised to 8%.

eMarketers predicts that US retail media ad spend would reach $31.49 billion by end of 2021 and this is up by 53.4% when compared to 2020. This figure would further raise to $50 billion by 2023. Most of retail media ad spend is from ecommerce platforms. Ecommerce channel ad spend would be 89.7% of total retail media spend in 2021. This percentage would reduce to 86.3% in 2023 due to retail media networks becoming a high-growth opportunity.

The survey findings published by Forrester revealed that 63% of Americans aged 12 and 17 have been using TikTok and 57% of them use Instagram on a weekly basis. Previously 61% of the kids used Instagram, while TikTok was 50%. Whereas 72% of American teenagers use Google’s YouTube on a weekly basis and it is the top social media platform used by Gen Z and Snapchat is used by 54% of U.S. Gen Z.

In the US, the digital ad spending by media and entertainment industries will rise each year and this spending would reach $26 billion by 2023. In the entertainment industry, mobile holds 76.5% of the digital ads and mobile makes 63.0% of the media industry’s digital advertising in 2021 and whereas display makes up 73.8% of all entertainment digital ad spending. By 2024, US digital ad spending would reach over $293 billion.
